Proclamation of April 24th, 2022 to be Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day - Portland City Council

Writer: St. KevorkSt. Kevork

Alis Smbatyan, Susan and Ester Nor-Ashkharian and Immigrant and Refugee Coordinator at City of Portland, Mariya Klimenko met with the Portland City Council and Mayor Wheeler on April 27th and did a proclamation and recognized April 24th as officially Armenian Genocide day.

Please watch the recording of the meeting, Mayor Wheeler's Introduction reading the Proclamation and hearing the Speakers. This was the first time ever done in Portland Oregon and our request was that it would be declared for every year. We are waiting to receive the signed proclamation certificate from the Mayor. There are plans next time to meet with Multnomah County and City of Portland.

Please see the video below for more details.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

The Armenian Community in Oregon and SW Washington is a small one, but the costs of running a church and community center are high. Our church can only thrive with the contributions of all.
